Basic Requirements for Nigerian Army Recruitment

Before you apply, make sure you meet the following criteria:

  • Age: Non-trades applicants must be between 18 and 22 years old. Trades applicants should be no older than 26 years as of 30th June 2025.
  • Physical Requirements: Applicants must be at least 1.68 meters tall for males and 1.65 meters for females.
  • Educational Qualifications: A minimum of four passes in WAEC, NECO, or NABTEB (including English) in no more than two sittings. Applicants for trades positions must also have a Trade Test or City Guild Certificate.
  • Citizenship: Only Nigerian citizens by birth are eligible. You must also have a National Identity Card (NIN slip) and BVN.
  • Other Documents: A birth certificate endorsed by the National Population Commission or a Hospital/Local Government, a valid certificate of state of origin, and any other necessary documents like educational certificates.
  • Physical and Medical Standards: You must meet the medical, physical, and psychological standards of the Nigerian Army and have no criminal convictions.

How to Apply for Nigerian Army Recruitment

  1. Visit the Recruitment Portal: Go to the Nigerian Army Recruitment Portal and log in with your username and password.
  2. Fill in the Application Form: Complete the online application form for free.
  3. Print & Complete: After filling the form, print it out along with the guarantor form, and fill them out and sign.
  4. Submit at Your State Centre: Take the signed forms to your state recruitment center.

  • No Computer-Based Tests: There will be no pre-selection computer-based tests.
  • No Special Screening Centers: Screening will take place at your state of origin, and there are no zonal screening centers.
  • Documents Required: You must bring original copies of your educational certificates, your National ID, and BVN slip.
  • Code of Conduct: Applicants must not have tattoos or any bodily inscriptions. You must not be a member of any cult or secret society. Falsification of documents will result in automatic disqualification.
  • Important Dates: Shortlisted candidates will be published on the Nigerian Army website and must report for screening from 2 to 16 June 2025.
