FUOTUOKE Opens Application for Vice Chancellor Position
The Federal University Otuoke (FUOTUOKE) has officially declared the position of Vice Chancellor vacant and is calling on qualified academics to apply. This announcement was made by the Governing Council of the university, in accordance with the Federal University Otuoke (Establishment) Act 2015 and the Universities (Miscellaneous Provisions) Acts of 1993, 2003, and 2012.
The next Vice Chancellor will be responsible for leading the institution’s vision, driving academic excellence, and fostering collaboration across departments and the broader community.
About the Position
The Vice Chancellor serves as the Chief Executive and Academic Officer of the university, presiding over the Senate and serving as a key member of the Governing Council. This position is both administrative and academic — requiring vision, integrity, and strategic leadership.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will:
- Advise the Governing Council on major policies, financial management, and administrative matters.
- Uphold discipline and promote a culture of excellence within the university community.
- Ensure full compliance with university laws, ordinances, and regulations.
- Supervise student admissions in line with Senate-approved policies.

Eligibility and Requirements
Applicants must meet the following qualifications and attributes:
- Possess a good university degree and a PhD from a recognized institution.
- Hold the rank of Professor for at least six years.
- Demonstrate proven leadership, administrative expertise, and integrity.
- Show evidence of academic excellence, including research, publications, and mentoring.
- Be proficient in ICT tools relevant to modern university governance.
- Exhibit strong interpersonal skills and the ability to maintain positive relationships across the academic community.
- Be physically and mentally fit to perform the role.
- Not be older than 65 years at the time of assumption of office.
Tenure and Conditions of Service
The appointment is for a single, non-renewable term of five (5) years.
Salary and conditions of service are consistent with those approved for Vice Chancellors of Federal Universities in Nigeria and are subject to government and council regulations.

Interested candidates are required to submit 25 copies of their application, each accompanied by a signed and dated curriculum vitae that includes:
- Full name, date of birth, nationality, contact details, and educational background.
- Academic and professional qualifications.
- Employment history, research achievements, publications, and community service.
- Copies of academic degrees, NYSC certificate, and other relevant documents.
Each applicant must also include the names and contact details of three referees. The referees are expected to send their confidential reports directly to the Registrar in sealed envelopes clearly marked “Post of Vice-Chancellor: Referee’s Report” at the top left corner.
Additionally, candidates should attach 25 copies of a 500-word vision statement outlining their ideas for advancing the Federal University Otuoke.
