MAPOLY Appoints Arc. Dr. Babatunde Adekoyejo Jolaoso as 10th Rector

In a significant development for Moshood Abiola Polytechnic (MAPOLY), Abeokuta, Arc. Dr. Babatunde Adekoyejo Jolaoso has been appointed as the 10th substantive Rector of the institution. His appointment was confirmed by the Governor of Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abiodun, and takes effect from Friday, 6th December 2024.

Governor Approves Appointment
The appointment was formalized through a letter from the Honourable Commissioner for Education, Science, and Technology, Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu. Dated 3rd December 2024, the letter was addressed to Emeritus Prof. Kamaldeen Balogun, Chairman of the Governing Council. On Wednesday, 4th December 2024, Prof. Balogun officially announced the new appointment at the Council Chambers, expressing his gratitude to the Governor for his continuous support of the Polytechnic and wishing Arc. Dr. Jolaoso a successful tenure.

Transition of Leadership
Dr. Adeoye Odedeji, the outgoing Rector, will complete his five-year tenure on Thursday, 5th December 2024. Dr. Odedeji has served since 2019, leading the institution through a single term of office.

A Remarkable Career Journey
Arc. Dr. Jolaoso’s association with MAPOLY dates back to 1982, when he joined the institution as a Laboratory Assistant at the Oke-Egunya Campus. Over the years, he rose through the ranks and is currently a Chief Lecturer in the Department of Architecture. A notable achievement in his career, Dr. Jolaoso is the first alumnus of MAPOLY to be appointed as Rector in the 45-year history of the institution. He holds a National Diploma and Higher National Diploma in Architecture from MAPOLY, as well as a BSc and MSc in Architecture from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria. In 2018, he completed his PhD in Architecture at the Federal University of Technology, Akure.

Professional Recognition and Achievements
Dr. Jolaoso is a registered architect and a Fellow of the Association of Nigerian Chartered Architects. He is also a member of several prestigious bodies, including the Chartered Institute of Public Diplomacy and Management, the Institute of Chartered Administrators of Nigeria, and the Institute of Management Specialists in the UK. As a respected academic, he has published 78 articles and led four research projects. He is fluent in English, Yoruba, and Hausa.

Personal Life
Dr. Jolaoso is married to Dr. Mrs. Azeezat Adeola Jolaoso, and together, they are blessed with children.

With his wealth of experience and deep-rooted connection to MAPOLY, Arc. Dr. Jolaoso is poised to lead the institution into a new era of growth and development.
