UNILAG Reschedules Screening and Registration for 2024/2025 Freshers: What You Need to Know

The University of Lagos (UNILAG) has announced changes to the registration and screening schedule for newly admitted students for the 2024/2025 academic session due to the 55th Convocation Ceremonies.

The registration process will now take place in two key phases:

  • Phase 1: Monday, January 6 – Friday, January 10, 2025
  • Phase 2: Monday, January 20 – Friday, January 31, 2025

Newly admitted UTME and Direct Entry candidates are advised to complete their registration within these periods to ensure a smooth start to their academic journey.

Step-by-Step Guide to UNILAG Registration and Screening Process

The registration and screening process is essential for all newly admitted candidates, and it’s important to follow the procedure closely to avoid delays. Here’s how to go about it:

Stage 1: Booking Your Registration Appointment

  1. Log in to the UNILAG Student Portal using your JAMB Number or Application Number as your username and your surname in lowercase as your password.
  2. Once logged in, change your default password for security.
  3. Click on “Appointment” in the menu bar.
  4. Select “New Appointment” and choose the appropriate faculty and date for your screening appointment.
  5. Click “Schedule Appointment” and print the booking slip, which you’ll need to present on your screening day.

Stage 2: Upload Required Documents

Before heading to the screening venue, you must upload the following documents:

  • JAMB Admission Letter
  • O’Level Result (WAEC/NECO)
  • Testimonial from your secondary school
  • Birth Certificate
  • State of Origin Certificate
  • Letter of Reference addressed to the Registrar of UNILAG
  • (For Direct Entry candidates only) Degree Certificate

After logging in to the UNILAG Student Portal, complete the bio-data form and print your screening form for submission during the screening session.

Stage 3: Screening at the Venue

Make sure to attend your scheduled screening session with the following documents:

  • Screening form (printed from Stage 2)
  • JAMB Admission Letter
  • UTME Result Slip (for UTME candidates only)
  • Post-UTME result slip (if applicable)
  • O’Level Result Certificate (online printouts are not accepted)
  • Birth Certificate
  • Testimonial from Secondary School
  • State of Origin Certificate
  • Passport photographs (twelve copies, names written on the back)
  • (For Direct Entry candidates) Degree Certificate, JAMB acknowledgment slip, and other relevant documents

All documents must be presented in original copies for verification.

Stage 4: Payment of Fees

After completing the screening process, you will receive a payment advice slip. You must pay the necessary fees at any bank using the slip within 24 hours.

Stage 5: Faculty and Departmental Registration

Once payment is completed, proceed to your faculty and department for further registration.

Important Reminders for New Students

  • Impersonation during registration will result in immediate forfeiture of admission and possible legal action.
  • Drug Use: UNILAG conducts mandatory drug tests for all new students. Those who fail the test or refuse to take it will have their admission withdrawn.
  • Dates for matriculation and orientation programs will be announced soon.
