Delta State University Schedules 2024/2025 Matriculation Ceremony: What You Need to Know

Delta State University (DELSU) has announced the date and details for the highly anticipated matriculation ceremony for new students in the 2024/2025 academic session. This event will officially mark the beginning of university life for all freshers and will take place on Saturday, January 25, 2025, across two campuses: Abraka and Oleh.

Matriculation Ceremony Details

The matriculation ceremony will be held at two locations, each with its own schedule:

1. Abraka Campus

  • Time: 9:00 a.m.
  • Venue: Convocation Arena, Site III, Abraka
  • Note: Students should arrive and be seated by 8:30 a.m. to avoid missing the start.

2. Oleh Campus

  • Time: 11:00 a.m.
  • Venue: 1000-Seating Capacity Lecture Theatre, Faculty of Engineering
  • Note: Students must be seated by 10:30 a.m.

Gown Collection and Return Guidelines

Fresh students are required to wear academic gowns during the ceremony. Here’s how to go about it:

  • Collection of Gowns: Gowns can be picked up from Faculty Officers starting Monday, January 20, 2025, between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Gown collection will end on Friday, January 24, 2025.
  • Return of Gowns: Gowns must be returned in good condition by Monday, January 27, 2025. Failure to return the gown on time will result in a penalty of ₦1,000 for each additional day.
  • Damage or Non-Return Fees: Any gown that is damaged or not returned will incur a replacement cost of ₦10,000.
  • Important Reminder: Gowns must not be rented out to photographers or any third parties. Security will confiscate gowns involved in such activities, and violators will face disciplinary action.

Attendance and Important Instructions

  • Mandatory Attendance: All new students are required to attend the matriculation ceremony.
  • Punctuality: Lateness will not be tolerated. Students must arrive early and be seated at the designated times.
  • Compliance: Faculty Officers are responsible for ensuring that students comply with all instructions and guidelines related to the event.
