ABSU Sets Date for 44th Matriculation Ceremony, Releases Full Guidelines for Fresh Students

Abia State University (ABSU) has officially announced the date and detailed guidelines for its 44th Matriculation Ceremony, an academic rite that formally admits new students into the university community.

The ceremony, which the university describes as compulsory, applies to all eligible fresh students across undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. Authorities have urged students to strictly follow the instructions to avoid last-minute issues.


ABSU 44th Matriculation: Date, Time and Venue

  • Date: Friday, 27 February 2026
  • Time: 11:00am prompt
  • Venue: University Pavilion, Abia State University (ABSU)

Students are advised to arrive early and comply with all official instructions on the day of the event.

Categories of Students Expected to Matriculate

According to the university, the following categories of students are expected to take part in the 44th matriculation ceremony:

1. Postgraduate Students

  • All postgraduate students who are not graduates of Abia State University.

2. First-Year Undergraduate Students (Regular Programme)

  • All newly admitted first-year undergraduate students under the Regular programme.

3. ICE Students

  • First-year undergraduate students of the Institute for Continuing Education (ICE) who have fully paid their school fees.

4. Other Cleared Students

  • Duly admitted and cleared students who, for genuine reasons, could not matriculate in their year of admission.

Students are strongly advised to confirm the category they belong to, as the university has clearly outlined eligibility to avoid confusion.

Matriculation Regalia and Brochure Fee

All matriculating students are required to pay a non-negotiable fee of ₦15,000 for:

  • Matriculation gown
  • Cap
  • Official matriculation brochure

Important Payment Instruction

Payment must be made only at the ABSU Micro-Finance Bank, Uturu.
The university has emphasized that no other payment option is allowed.

Payment Deadline and Collection of Materials

  • Payment Deadline: On or before Tuesday, 24 February 2026
  • Collection of Gown and Brochure Begins: Wednesday, 25 February 2026

Students are advised to make payment early and plan ahead to avoid delays.

Matriculation Is Compulsory: Eligibility Conditions

ABSU reiterated that matriculation is mandatory for all fresh students. Only students who meet the following conditions will be allowed to participate:

  • Acceptance of admission offer
  • Full payment of required fees
  • Proper course registration (where applicable)

Only bonafide students who have completed these steps will be recognized as officially admitted into the university.
