OAU Issues Crucial Update on NELFUND Student Loan for 2025/2026 Session
Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) has released an important notice for all newly admitted and returning students regarding the NELFUND Student Loan process for the 2025/2026 academic session. The update provides detailed guidance to help students navigate applications and ensure timely disbursement.
Who Can Apply
All OAU students—freshers and returning—are eligible to apply for the NELFUND Loan. However, new students must first receive their matriculation numbers before initiating the application. All applications must be submitted through the official NELFUND Portal.
Key Components of the NELFUND Loan
- Upkeep Allowance
- Students opting for this receive a monthly allowance of ₦20,000 directly in their accounts.
- This is only available to applicants who select the upkeep option during the application process.
- School Charges
- NELFUND covers tuition and related fees, which are paid directly to OAU’s account.
- Students who have already paid tuition upfront will be refunded once NELFUND credits the University.
Important Notice for Students
Processing and payment may take time. To avoid delays in registration, students are advised to make a 50% part-payment of their approved school charges while awaiting NELFUND disbursement. Any such payments will be fully refunded once the loan is credited to the University.
OAU’s Guidance
The University urges all students to follow the correct NELFUND procedures and remain patient during the application process. OAU emphasizes its commitment to supporting students’ financial stability and ensuring a smooth academic experience for the 2025/2026 session.
