Tai Solarin University of Education Names Prof. Adekunle Adeogun as Acting Vice-Chancellor

The Governing Council of Tai Solarin University of Education (TASUED), Ijagun, Ogun State, has officially appointed Professor Adekunle Olanrewaju Adeogun as the Acting Vice-Chancellor of the institution.

The announcement, made through a statement from the university’s Registrar, Mr. Oladapo Oke, followed an emergency Governing Council meeting held on Wednesday, October 22, 2025. Professor Adeogun, who currently serves as the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, will assume office on November 4, 2025, succeeding Professor Wole Banjo, whose five-year tenure ends on that date.


A Seasoned Academic with a Legacy of Service

Professor Adeogun is a distinguished scholar and Professor of Public Health Education. He began his academic career in 1999 at the former Ogun State College of Education—now TASUED—as a Lecturer III. Over the years, his dedication to teaching and research earned him steady promotions, culminating in his elevation to the rank of Professor in 2016.

The university’s statement highlighted his vast academic contributions, describing him as “a prolific researcher with over 50 publications in reputable journals.” His leadership is expected to strengthen TASUED’s commitment to academic excellence, innovation, and community impact.

Professor Adeogun’s academic journey reflects a solid foundation in education and health sciences. His qualifications include:

  • National Certificate of Education (NCE) – Ogun State College of Education (1990)
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education – University of Port Harcourt (1995)
  • Master of Education (M.Ed.) – Olabisi Onabanjo University (2003)
  • Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) – University of Ibadan (2008)

In a congratulatory message, outgoing Vice-Chancellor Professor Wole Banjo expressed confidence in Adeogun’s leadership, noting that “his commitment to academic growth and institutional excellence will continue to uplift TASUED.”

Similarly, the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council, Professor Adisa Bello, applauded the appointment, emphasizing that Adeogun’s vast experience and academic insight would guide TASUED through its “next phase of sustainable growth.”
