NSUK Restructures Courses for 2025/2026 Admissions: Mass Communication, Estate Management, and Agriculture Affected

Big changes have arrived at Nasarawa State University, Keffi (NSUK), and every prospective student must pay close attention. The university has officially announced a restructuring of some of its academic programmes, including the popular Mass Communication, Estate Management, and Agriculture.

According to a circular signed by the Registrar, Dr. Bala Isyaka Ahmed II, on Wednesday, August 20, 2025, these changes directly affect candidates who applied for admission into the 2025/2026 academic session.

Mass Communication Now Split into Three Degrees

What was once a single course, Mass Communication, has now been divided into three distinct degree programmes:

  • Broadcasting
  • Journalism and Media Studies
  • Public Relations

This means that candidates who chose Mass Communication in the 2025 UTME or Direct Entry must update their choice on the JAMB portal to any of the three new options. Failure to do so will make them ineligible for the upcoming Post-UTME screening.

Other Courses Affected

The shake-up doesn’t end with Mass Communication. Two other fields have also been restructured:

  • Estate Management – No longer available. Candidates must switch to Urban and Regional Planning, which is the closest alternative offered by NSUK.
  • Agriculture – Discontinued as a stand-alone course. Applicants must now select one of the following specializations:
    • Animal Science
    • Agronomy
    • Agricultural Economics and Extension
    • Fisheries and Aquaculture Management
    • Forestry, Wildlife and Ecotourism
    • Home Science and Management

Why These Changes Are Important

The restructuring is more than just a name change—it is a compulsory adjustment. Students who fail to update their course selection will be barred from the Post-UTME screening exercise, which is a mandatory step in the admission process.

The deadline for making these corrections remains Friday, August 29, 2025. The university has made it clear that there will be no extension.

What Candidates Must Do Now

For JAMB candidates, the next steps are simple but urgent:

  1. Log in to the JAMB CAPS portal.
  2. Change your course of study to match NSUK’s new structure.
  3. Prepare for the Post-UTME screening before the deadline.

As the popular saying goes, shine your eyes now, so you don’t regret later.
