ATBU Announces 2024/2025 Academic Calendar: Key Dates for Students
The Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU) in Bauchi has officially released the academic calendar for the 2024/2025 session. The calendar, which has been approved by the university’s management, provides important dates and deadlines for both new and returning students. Here’s everything you need to know to stay on top of your academic schedule.
First Semester: Important Dates and Activities
- Online Registration (100L–500L): 16th December 2024 – 7th January 2025
Students can complete their registration online for 23 days. - Returning Students Resumption (300L–500L): 6th January 2025
Returning students in the 300L-500L range are expected to resume on this day. - Physical Registration (300L–500L): 6th – 7th January 2025
In-person registration for students in these levels will take place over two days. - Late Registration with Fine (300L–500L): 8th – 12th January 2025
There will be a five-day window for late registration with an additional fine. - Arrival of Fresh 100L, 200L & Returning 200L Students: 8th January 2025
Freshers and returning 200L students should arrive on this day. - Physical Registration (100L–200L): 8th – 9th January 2025
First-year and second-year students can complete their physical registration within two days. - Late Physical Registration with Fine (100L–200L): 10th – 13th January 2025
Latecomers can still register with a fine for the next four days. - Matriculation Ceremony: 24th January 2025
A key event for fresh students to formally join the university community. - Orientation for Fresh Students: 24th – 26th January 2025
Three days of orientation activities will help newcomers settle into university life. - Lectures Begin:
300L–500L students: 8th January – 28th March 2025 (12 weeks)
100L–200L students: 13th January – 28th March 2025 (11 weeks) - Add and Drop Period: 10th – 14th February 2025
Students can make changes to their course registrations during this five-day period. - First Semester Examinations: 7th April – 3rd May 2025
Exams will take place over four weeks. - Inter-Semester Break: 4th – 29th May 2025
A four-week break follows the completion of first-semester exams.
Second Semester: Key Dates and Deadlines
- Resumption for All Students: 30th May 2025
All students are expected to resume at the start of the second semester. - Registration for All Students: 30th May – 1st June 2025
Registration will take place over three days. - Late Registration with Fine: 2nd – 4th June 2025
Late registration will be available for three days with a fine. - Lectures for All Students: 2nd June – 23rd August 2025
The second-semester lectures will run for 12 weeks. - Add and Drop Period: 30th June – 4th July 2025
Students have five days to make changes to their courses. - Second Semester Examinations: 29th August – 28th September 2025
The final exams for the second semester will take place over four weeks. - Vacation for All Students: 29th September – 4th December 2025
Students will enjoy a long vacation from late September to early December. - Commencement of 2025/2026 Session: 5th December 2025
The academic year will begin again in December 2025.
