The 2026/2027 admission cycle is now in full swing, with Nigerian universities uploading their 2026/2027 admission list onto the JAMB Central Admission Processing System (CAPS). Whether you’re anxiously waiting for your admission status or preparing for the post-UTME screening exercise, understanding the current admission landscape is crucial to your university journey.
What’s Happening With 2026/2027 Admissions Right Now?
Major Nigerian universities, including the Federal University of Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE), have begun uploading their admission lists to JAMB CAPS. This means candidates who wrote the 2026 UTME and passed the post-UTME screening are now seeing their names appear on university portals. Furthermore, institutions like Landmark University are currently conducting post-UTME screening exercises to evaluate remaining candidates.
Understanding the Post-UTME Screening Process
The post-UTME screening is a critical stage in Nigerian university admissions. Each institution conducts this exercise to assess candidates beyond their JAMB score. Therefore, performing well during this phase—whether it’s a written test, interview, or practical examination—directly impacts your admission outcome. Universities use these results to select the most suitable candidates for their programmes.
Recent Reforms to Strengthen Nigerian Universities
In October 2026, the National Universities Commission (NUC) and JAMB outlined reforms aimed at improving the admission process. JAMB Registrar Prof Segun Aina reaffirmed the Board’s commitment to reducing difficulties candidates face during admission. The NUC Executive Secretary, Prof Abdullahi Ribadu, emphasised strengthening regulatory capacity through improved guidelines and quality assurance mechanisms. In addition, universities are now expected to promote transparency in admissions and financial management.

Frequently Asked Questions
When will all universities upload their 2026/2027 admission lists?
While some universities like FUOYE have already started, most institutions upload admission lists between October and November 2026. However, this timeline varies by university. Check your institution’s official website or the JAMB portal regularly for updates.
What if I don’t see my name on the admission list?
If your name hasn’t appeared, it could mean you didn’t meet the institution’s cut-off mark, need to complete post-UTME screening, or weren’t selected. Contact your university’s admissions office directly for clarification. You may also apply for supplementary admission if offered by the institution.
Can I accept admission at multiple universities?
No. Nigerian university admission rules state that each candidate must accept admission at only one institution. Once you accept an offer, you must withdraw from other universities. This ensures fairness for other waiting candidates.
