Historic Appointment: Barrister Nwokike Rosemary Ifeoma Becomes UNIZIK’s First Indigenous Registrar

In a groundbreaking move, Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK) in Awka has appointed Barrister Nwokike Rosemary Ifeoma as its new Registrar. This marks a significant milestone as she is the first person from Awka to hold this prestigious position since the university was founded.

Barrister Nwokike boasts an exceptional academic record. She holds a Master of Laws (LLM) in Maritime Law and Policy, as well as a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science, both from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN). Additionally, she has a second degree from the UNN Faculty of Law and is currently pursuing her PhD, showcasing her commitment to education and excellence.

Extensive Administrative Experience

Nwokike’s career in university administration is notable. She began as an Assistant Faculty Officer in the Faculty of Law at UNN, quickly demonstrating her strong grasp of academic administration. She has played key roles in various departments, including the Records and Statistics unit, where she implemented innovative data management systems.

Her leadership skills shone when she served as the Coordinator of the Centre for Entrepreneurship and Development Research at the University of Nigeria, Enugu Campus (UNEC), where she fostered valuable partnerships between academia and industry to enhance entrepreneurship education.

A Vision for the Future

In 2022, Nwokike was promoted to Unit Head in the Personnel Services Unit of the Registry Department, where she improved human resources functions and staff welfare. Her contributions have been recognized by her peers, and she is an active member of the Association of Nigerian University Professional Administrators (ANUPA).
