AE-FUNAI Postpones 2025/2026 First Semester Exams Over ASUU Sport Fiesta, Health Week

The management of Alex Ekwueme Federal University, Ndufu-Alike (AE-FUNAI) has announced a two-week postponement of the First Semester examinations earlier scheduled to begin on Monday, February 23, 2026.

The university confirmed that the exams will no longer commence on the initial date, urging students and staff to adjust their academic plans accordingly.

Why AE-FUNAI Shifted the Examination Date

According to the official notice released to the university community, the adjustment became necessary due to a clash of major institutional activities scheduled within the same period.

The affected events include:

  • The weeklong ASUU AE-FUNAI Sport Fiesta
  • The university’s Health Week
  • The Indigent Students Scholarship Programme
  • The Vice-Chancellor’s familiarisation tours of Faculties

University authorities explained that overlapping these significant events with the semester examinations would disrupt academic coordination and student participation.

What This Means for Students

Although the exams have been moved back by two weeks from February 23, 2026, a new official examination date has not yet been announced.

Students are advised to:

  • Adjust their reading schedules
  • Stay aligned with departmental academic plans
  • Avoid relying on unofficial information or corridor discussions
  • Monitor official university channels for the confirmed examination timetable

Revision Classes Continue from March 2

AE-FUNAI clarified that academic activities remain active.

Revision classes will continue from March 2, 2026, based on the existing timetable. This means students are expected to remain academically engaged while awaiting the new examination schedule.

Official Message to the University Community

The university management expressed regret over any inconvenience the postponement may cause. The announcement serves as the formal communication to both staff and students regarding the examination adjustment.

Officials emphasized that further updates will be communicated through official platforms once a new date is finalized.

What Students Should Do Now

With the examination date pending, this extended revision period offers an opportunity for:

  • Better preparation
  • Completion of pending coursework
  • Participation in campus activities without academic conflict

Students are strongly encouraged to remain focused and attentive to official updates.
