OAU Reschedules 2025/2026 Matriculation to January 15, 2026

Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) has officially shifted its 2025/2026 matriculation ceremony to Thursday, January 15, 2026, moving it from the earlier date of Tuesday, December 16, 2025.

The university confirmed that while the date has changed, the time window remains the same — 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The ceremony will still be held physically at the OAU Amphitheatre, Ile-Ife, and will run in three structured batches based on Faculties.

The notice, released to staff and students, serves as both an official notification and invitation, asking all newly admitted students—undergraduate and postgraduate—to attend according to their allocated batch.

What OAU Wants Students and Staff to Do

The university emphasized that the announcement serves as both a formal invitation and official notification. All students—especially newly admitted ones—are expected to:

  • Take note of the new date
  • Identify their Faculty batch
  • Attend the ceremony within their allotted time

Failure to appear in the correct batch could disrupt the orderly flow of the event.

Why This Matters

Matriculation is not just ceremonial—it is the formal induction of students into the OAU academic community. The rescheduling ensures better planning and coordination for both the institution and its students.

For thousands of fresh undergraduates and postgraduates, January 15, 2026 now marks the official beginning of their academic journey at one of Nigeria’s most prestigious universities.
