Edo State University Denies Fake Security Alert, Assures Campus Safety

The Management of Edo State University, Iyamho has issued a strong warning to students, staff, and the public regarding a fake memo circulating online titled “Security Alert – Movement Restrictions.”

University officials clarified that the memo did not originate from the Acting Registrar or any authorized office and contains false information intended to cause panic.

“There is no confirmed security threat on campus, nor any report of bandits or criminal activity targeting the university. The circulating message is misleading and should be ignored,” the statement said.

The university further emphasized that anyone spreading false claims or attempting to tarnish the institution’s reputation may face legal action.

Students, staff, and members of the public are urged to rely solely on official university communications for updates. Genuine announcements will continue to be shared through the approved channels of the University Management.

The campus remains safe, calm, and fully operational.
