Nodes of Ranvier are the constrictions of myelin sheath along a nerve fibre at regular intervals. They assist in the fast transmission of impulses. Myelin sheath is fatty material formed by Schwann cells that surround the nine fibre. Dendrites are the main receptive portions of the neurone. Axon is a single long anaslender fibre which carries impulses away from the cell body and branches at its free end to terminate as synaptic knobs
