Plateau State University Reschedules 8th and 9th Convocation Ceremonies to January 2026

The Senate of Plateau State University (PLASU) has officially approved new dates for its combined 8th and 9th convocation ceremonies, moving the events from November 2025 to January 30th and 31st, 2026.

This announcement followed deliberations at the university’s 97th regular Senate meeting held on October 13, 2025, where members agreed that the adjustment would ensure better coordination and the completion of other academic activities ahead of the ceremonies.


Updated Convocation Schedule

According to the new plan:

  • Pre-Convocation Lecture: Friday, 30th January 2026
  • Main Convocation Ceremony: Saturday, 31st January 2026

The events are expected to attract graduates, parents, academic staff, and distinguished guests as PLASU celebrates another milestone of academic excellence.

Senate Approves 2025/2026 Academic Calendar

During the same session, the Senate also reviewed and confirmed the 2025/2026 academic calendar, ensuring smooth operations across all faculties.

  • First Semester Commencement: Monday, 29th September 2025
  • Online Registration (New & Returning Students): Monday, 6th October 2025
  • Registration Closes: Monday, 13th October 2025
  • End of Admission Process: Monday, 3rd November 2025
  • Orientation for Fresh Students: Tuesday, 4th – Thursday, 6th November 2025
  • Matriculation Ceremony: Friday, 7th November 2025
  • Full Classes Begin: Monday, 27th October 2025, following a brief ASUU warning strike.

Focus on Academic Integrity and NUC Compliance

Addressing the Senate, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Shedrack Best, emphasized the university’s dedication to maintaining academic excellence and operational transparency.

Represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academics), Professor Moses Galadima, he urged all faculty members to strictly adhere to the new academic schedule.

Professor Best also directed that all pending results for 200–400 level students be completed and uploaded to the university’s digital management system within two weeks, ahead of the National Universities Commission (NUC) accreditation visit on 2nd November 2025.

He noted that prompt result uploads are part of PLASU’s compliance with updated NUC requirements mandating digital submission of student transcripts at the end of every semester.
