Ogun State Declares Two-Day Mid-Term Break for All Schools

In a move to ensure a balanced academic calendar, the Ogun State Ministry of Education, Science and Technology has officially announced a two-day mid-term break for the First Term of the 2025/2026 academic session.

According to the circular signed by Professor Abayomi A. Arigbabu, Honourable Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, all public and private primary and secondary schools, including Government Technical Colleges, are expected to go on break from Thursday, October 30 to Friday, October 31, 2025.


Open Day Set for October 29

Ahead of the mid-term holiday, the Ministry revealed that Open Day activities will hold in all schools on Wednesday, October 29, 2025. The event provides an important opportunity for parents and guardians to interact with teachers and discuss their children’s academic progress before the break.

Resumption Date Announced

Schools are to resume full academic activities on Monday, November 3, 2025. The Ministry emphasized that all students and teachers are expected to return punctually to ensure that the academic calendar remains on track.

“The Ministry encourages punctual resumption to maintain the academic calendar for the term,” the statement read in part.

Advisory to Parents and Guardians

The Ministry further urged parents and guardians to make the most of the short holiday by ensuring that their children remain safe, productive, and ready for the continuation of academic work.

“Parents should ensure their wards use the mid-term break wisely and return refreshed and prepared for learning,” Professor Arigbabu advised.

He also appreciated the cooperation of school heads, teachers, parents, and students for their commitment to sustaining a smooth and effective school calendar across Ogun State.
