The Search for Common Ground Africa Program Development Hub is calling on passionate individuals to apply for its 2025 Program Development Internship. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in promoting peace and development across Africa by supporting impactful programs in regions experiencing conflict and instability.
What’s the Role About?
As a Program Development Intern, you’ll be a vital part of a dynamic team working to design and implement peacebuilding programs in 17 African countries. Your contributions will help shape proposals and create innovative solutions aimed at securing funding for programs in regions like the Sahel, Lake Chad Basin, Horn of Africa, and the Great Lakes.
Interns will focus on specific regions, but may also assist with projects across the entire Africa portfolio.
Key Responsibilities:
- Proposal Writing: Help draft proposals, including program activities, goals, and logical frameworks.
- Research: Conduct desk research to stay updated on the latest political and social trends across Africa.
- Fundraising: Support strategies to engage donors and secure funding for initiatives.
- Partner Outreach: Analyze calls for proposals and connect with potential partners.
- Communication: Edit and review English and/or French proposals for clarity and impact.
- Representation: Attend and document key conferences, meetings, and events related to peacebuilding.
- Administrative Support: Assist with logistics and administrative duties for the Africa Program Development Hub.
Who Should Apply?
To be eligible for this internship, you must meet the following criteria:
- Education: Hold a degree in a relevant field.
- Language Skills: Strong written and spoken English; fluency in French is required for those based in Francophone Africa.
- Interest: Demonstrate a keen interest in peacebuilding and international development, particularly in Sub-Saharan Africa.
- Organizational Skills: Ability to multitask and meet deadlines with attention to detail.
- Proactive Attitude: A self-starter who can take initiative.
Bonus Skills and Experience:
- Languages: Proficiency in Portuguese or Somali is a plus.
- Experience: Previous work with NGOs, non-profits, or in program development is advantageous.
- Exposure to International Environments: Experience in developing countries is desirable.
