JAMB Removes Five CBT Centres for 2025 UTME Due to Technical Failures
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has officially removed five Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres from the list of approved venues for the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) following their failure to meet required technical standards.
The affected centres, which were found to be non-compliant with JAMB’s technical guidelines, are located in Kano, Imo, and Sokoto States. They include:
- Adventure Associate, Behind Sheshe Supermarket, Off Hadejia Road, Kano, Kano State
- Saadatu Rimi College of Education, Zaria Road, Naibawa, Kano, Kano State
- Penta M & F Technical Services Ltd, Centre 2, 96km Sokoto-Jega Road, Tambuwal, Sokoto State
- Penta M & F Technical Services Ltd, Centre 1, 96km Sokoto-Jega Road, Tambuwal, Sokoto State
- Soronara Ventured Nigeria Limited, Foundation Road, Umudagu Mbieri, Mbaitoli, Imo State
What Candidates Should Do Next
Candidates who had initially registered to take their UTME at any of these centres are advised to promptly reprint their examination notification slips. The new slip will show the updated exam centre and the rescheduled date. Please note that failure to reprint the slip will result in disqualification from sitting the examination.
2025 UTME Progress Update
As of April 25, 2025, over 900,000 candidates have successfully completed their UTME. This follows a total registration of 2,083,600 candidates for the 2025 session, showcasing the high demand and large scale of this year’s examination.
JAMB Cracks Down on Impersonators
In a separate development, JAMB has apprehended 27 impersonators attempting to fraudulently take the UTME on behalf of other candidates. These individuals have been handed over to the Nigeria Police for legal action, as JAMB continues to enforce its zero-tolerance policy on examination malpractices.
What Happened at Caleb University?
A recent incident at Caleb University brought attention to issues around candidate entry procedures. Several candidates wearing hijabs were initially denied entry into the examination hall. The action was traced to a security officer who acted without proper authorization. The Vice-Chancellor of the university condemned the incident, and the situation was swiftly resolved to ensure no candidate missed their exam. JAMB has issued apologies to those affected, and corrective measures have been put in place.
JAMB’s Warning to CBT Centres
JAMB has commended the 883 centres that adhered to the required standards. However, the board has issued a stern warning to all CBT centres: any centre that fails to meet technical or ethical standards will be blacklisted, regardless of ownership. This action is part of JAMB’s ongoing commitment to ensuring fairness and integrity in the examination process.
As we approach the final stages of the 2025 UTME, candidates are reminded to stay vigilant and ensure they are following all necessary procedures.
