FUTA Opens 2025/2026 Postgraduate Admission — Everything You Need to Know

The Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA) has officially opened its portal for postgraduate admissions for the 2025/2026 academic session. Whether you’re aiming for a Postgraduate Diploma (PGD), Master’s, M.Phil., or a Ph.D., this is your opportunity to move your academic journey forward.
Programmes Available
FUTA offers admission into the following postgraduate programmes:
- Postgraduate Diploma (PGD)
- Master’s Degrees (M.Tech., M.Eng., M.Sc., M.Agric. Tech.)
- Master of Philosophy (M.Phil.)
- Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.)
Each programme is tailored for specific academic and career goals and comes with its own eligibility and duration.
Admission Requirements
Postgraduate Diploma (PGD)
To qualify, applicants must have:
- A First Degree with at least Third Class, or
- An HND with Lower Credit, or
- A recognized professional qualification (such as ACA, ACCA) — only applicable to Computer Science applicants
Master’s Programmes
Requirements for M.Tech., M.Eng., M.Sc., or M.Agric. Tech.:
- A Bachelor’s degree with at least Second Class Lower in a relevant field from FUTA or any recognized university, or
- An HND (Lower Credit) plus a PGD (Upper Credit) in a related course
Note: For Engineering programmes, PGD applicants must have a minimum CGPA of 3.0.
M.Phil. Programme
Applicants must possess:
- A strong Master’s degree (M.Tech. or equivalent) in their chosen field
Ph.D. Programme
To be eligible, candidates must hold:
- A Master’s degree with a minimum CGPA of 3.50 or 60% average
- Or other equivalent qualifications recognized by FUTA’s Senate

Important: O’Level results are no longer a requirement for FUTA postgraduate admissions.
How to Apply for FUTA Postgraduate Admission
- Visit any of the following websites:
- Pay the non-refundable application fee of ₦20,000 through REMITA to the School of Postgraduate Studies
- Applicable to PGD, Master’s, and Ph.D.

Note for Non-FUTA Graduates
You’re required to:
- Print the Transcript Label from your online application form
- Request your former school to send your transcript directly to:
