FUOYE Names Professor Joshua Ogunwole as Fifth Vice-Chancellor
The Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE) has officially appointed Professor Joshua Olalekan Ogunwole, a distinguished soil ecosystem expert, as its new Vice-Chancellor. Professor Ogunwole will succeed Professor Abayomi Sunday Fasina as FUOYE’s fifth substantive Vice-Chancellor, taking office in February 2026.
Currently serving as Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Strategic Partnership, Research, and Linkages, Professor Ogunwole was selected after an extensive and rigorous selection process conducted by the University’s Governing Council.
A Thorough Selection Process
The appointment was announced in a statement by FUOYE’s Public Relations Officer, Mr. Foluso Ogunmodede, following a Council meeting chaired by Pro-Chancellor and Chairman, Senator Victor Ndoma-Egba (SAN), on Thursday, 6 November 2025.
According to the statement, the process, which began in August with nationwide advertisements, aimed to identify a visionary leader capable of driving the University’s academic and administrative growth. Senator Ndoma-Egba described the appointment as a “new chapter” for FUOYE and urged all stakeholders to collaborate with the incoming Vice-Chancellor to foster progress and unity.
The Pro-Chancellor also acknowledged the contributions of outgoing Vice-Chancellor Professor Fasina, particularly in infrastructure development, while commending the Governing Council for its diligence and commitment throughout the selection process.
A New Era for FUOYE
The official letter of appointment was presented to Professor Ogunwole at the conclusion of the Council meeting, signaling the start of a transformative leadership phase for the University.
FUOYE extends congratulations to Professor Joshua Olalekan Ogunwole and expresses confidence in his ability to elevate the institution’s standards in academics, research, and administration.
