Admission Requirements
General Requirement
All applicants for Ph.D., M.Phil., M.A., M.Ed., M.Sc., M.Eng., and LLM programmes must submit their academic transcripts.
Ph.D. / M.Phil. Programmes
- Must hold a relevant Master’s degree (M.A, M.Ed, M.Sc, M.Eng, or LLM) with a minimum CGPA of 3.50 on a 5-point scale.
- For Radiology applicants: MBBS plus M.Sc in Radiology or equivalent fellowship (NPMCN, WACP, WACS, or foreign equivalent). A screening may apply.
Master’s Programmes (M.A, M.Ed, M.Sc, M.Eng, LLM, MLS, etc.)
- At least a Second Class Lower Degree in a relevant field, or
- A first degree plus a Postgraduate Diploma at Credit level.
- For Engineering applicants: Credit passes in English, Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry are compulsory.
MBCL Programme
- A Second Class Degree in Law or Social Sciences, or
- A degree plus a Postgraduate Diploma with Merit classification.
Postgraduate Diplomas (PGDs)
- A degree in any field or an HND with Lower Credit.
- Specific PGDs (such as PGDAF, PGDHS, PGDSE, PGDME, etc.) have tailored requirements depending on the discipline.
Master’s in Public Health
- MBBS or BDS degree with a valid practising licence.
- At least 3 years of post-qualification experience in health or medical services.
- Applicants must pass both an entrance exam and an interview.
Application Fee and Deadline
- Fee: ₦12,000 (Twelve Thousand Naira).
- Opening Date: 16 December 2024.
- Closing Date: 19 August 2025.
How to Apply for BUK Postgraduate Admission
- Start Your Application
- Visit the official BUK Postgraduate Application Portal and register with your full name to generate a username and password.
- Generate Payment Form
- Print your BUK Personalized Payment Form (BUKPPF) and pay the ₦12,000 fee through the Remita e-Payment platform.
- Complete Forms Online
- Fill in the Application Form, Programme Selection Form, and Personal Data Form.
- Submit Transcripts
- Applicants for Ph.D., M.Phil., and academic Master’s programmes must request their transcripts to be sent directly to the Secretary, School of Postgraduate Studies, BUK.
- Research Proposal
- Ph.D. applicants must submit a research proposal (not more than 350 words) online.
- Finalize Application
- Review all details, submit, and print your acknowledgement slip for future reference.
