Akwa Ibom State Polytechnic Fixes Jan 20–21 Mandatory Library Orientation for ND I, HND I Students

Akwa Ibom State Polytechnic, Ikot Osurua, has announced a two-day compulsory library orientation exercise for all National Diploma (ND I) and Higher National Diploma (HND I) students, covering both full-time and part-time programmes.

The directive was contained in an official circular issued by the Office of the Registrar and signed by Godswill E. Udofah, MNIM, Acting Registrar, underscoring the institution’s commitment to strengthening students’ academic foundation through effective use of library resources.

Dates and Venue

The orientation is scheduled to hold on:

  • Tuesday, January 20, 2026
  • Wednesday, January 21, 2026

Venue: Polytechnic Library Conference Hall, Akwa Ibom State Polytechnic, Ikot Osurua.

Time

Each session will run daily from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm.

  • School of Communication Arts and Environmental Studies

Who Must Attend

Attendance is mandatory for all ND I and HND I students, irrespective of their mode of study. The Polytechnic emphasized that no exemptions apply—any student within these categories is expected to be present.

Purpose of the Exercise

The library orientation is designed to:

  • Promote effective reading and research habits
  • Familiarize students with available library resources and services
  • Equip new students with essential academic research skills needed for success

Lecture, Test and Exam-Free Days

To ensure full participation, the management declared the orientation days lecture-free, test-free, and examination-free for students in the affected schools, as clearly stated in the circular.
