What Does the University Librarian Do?

The Librarian will also be responsible for building strong relationships with local and international library organizations, as well as publishers, to keep the library up-to-date and well-equipped.
Key Qualifications and Requirements
To be considered for the position, applicants must meet the following qualifications:
- Educational Background: A PhD in a relevant field.
- Experience: At least 15 years of experience in the library field, with a minimum of 5 years at the level of Deputy Librarian or its equivalent.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in information technology and library automation is essential.
- Scholarly Achievements: A strong record of academic publications.
- Age Limit: Applicants must be under 65 years of age at the time of appointment.
- Professional Membership: Membership in relevant professional associations is required, and applicants must be registered with the Librarians’ Registration Council of Nigeria (LRCN).
- Leadership: The ability to lead research initiatives within a university or similar environment.
Conditions of Service
The terms of employment are in line with the Federal University standards in Nigeria, with additional conditions determined by the University Council and Government.
