Adeyemi Federal University of Education (AFUED) Announces 35th Convocation Ceremony: A Five-Day Celebration of Academic Excellence

Adeyemi Federal University of Education (AFUED), Ondo, has officially announced its much-anticipated 35th Convocation Ceremony, set to celebrate outstanding academic achievements across six academic sessions. The event will also honour notable figures with honorary doctorate degrees, highlighting the university’s commitment to excellence and community leadership.

This year’s convocation spans five days, packed with engaging academic, cultural, and social activities designed to showcase the vibrant spirit of the institution.


AFUED 35th Convocation Ceremony: Schedule of Events

Day 1: Monday, 19 May 2025

  • 10:00 AM: Press Conference by the Vice-Chancellor (New Centre for Educational Technology Building)
  • 2:00 PM: Alumni Inter-Faculty Debate (CET Building)

Day 2: Tuesday, 20 May 2025

  • 3:00 PM: Alumni Football Match (Prof. Ayotunde Yoloye Sports Centre)

Day 3: Wednesday, 21 May 2025

  • 10:00 AM: Founder’s Day Lecture by Adebayo Adenipekun, SAN, FCIArb (Olusegun Obasanjo Auditorium)

Day 4: Thursday, 22 May 2025

  • 11:00 AM: Convocation Lecture by Prof. Toyin Falola, University of Texas at Austin
    Topic: The Advent of Artificial Intelligence and the Future of Nigerian Tertiary Education (Olusegun Obasanjo Auditorium)
  • 4:00 PM: Convocation Play – Many Colours Make the Thunder King by Prof. Femi Osofisan (Olusegun Obasanjo Auditorium)

Day 5: Friday, 23 May 2025 – Convocation Day

  • 10:00 AM: Awarding of Honorary Doctorates and Degrees for graduates from 2017/2018 to 2022/2023 (Prof. Ayotunde Yoloye Sports Centre)
  • 5:00 PM: Alumni Reunion Night (University Quadrangle)

Honouring Excellence: Award of Honorary Doctorates

AFUED will honour distinguished personalities during the ceremony with honorary degrees, including:

  • Her Excellency, Dr. Oluremi Tinubu (CON) – Doctor of Science Education
  • Oba Dr. Victor Adesimbo Kiladejo, Jillo III CFR – Doctor of Science
  • Prof. Toyin Falola – Doctor of Letters

Important Information for Graduands

Academic Outfits and Clearance:

  • Gowns available from Thursday, 15 May 2025, 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM at each faculty.
  • Gowns must be returned by Wednesday, 28 May 2025; late returns incur a ₦1,000 daily fine.
  • Each graduand receives two invitation cards after proof of payment.

Ceremony Protocol:

  • Graduands must report by 8:30 AM on convocation day to their respective faculties.
  • First degree recipients will move tassels from right to left when admitted.
  • All attendees must stand for the academic procession, national anthem, and university anthem.
  • Movement in and out of the venue during the ceremony is not allowed.

Traffic Management:

  • Entry through the main gate.
