ABU Sets December and January Screening Dates — Here’s What New Students Must Know

Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, has officially released the screening and certificate verification schedule for all newly admitted students for the 2025/2026 academic session. The institution says the exercise is compulsory for confirming each student’s admission status and academic records.

The verification process includes both online uploads and physical screening at designated points on campus.

Two-Phase Screening Timeline

ABU management has divided the verification process into two phases to accommodate all admitted students:

Phase One:

December 1 – December 15, 2025

Phase Two:

From January 6, 2026

All newly admitted candidates must appear for screening within these dates as scheduled by the university.

Required Online Uploads on the Post-UTME Portal

Before reporting for physical screening, students must log into the ABU Post-UTME portal and upload clear, readable copies of the following:

  • JAMB result slip (for UTME candidates)
  • JAMB admission letter
  • NIN slip
  • Indigene certificate
  • Birth certificate
  • O’level certificate(s) or statement of result(s)
  • A’level certificates or statement of results (for Direct Entry candidates)
  • Attestation letter or affidavit (if applicable)

ABU advises that all uploaded documents must be clear enough for instant confirmation to avoid delays.

Documents Required for the Physical Screening

During the physical session, students must present the following:

  • Original scratch cards or PINs used to check O’level results (WAEC/NECO/NABTEB)
  • Original A’level certificates
    • If the original A’level certificate is unavailable, students must present a certified true copy

These documents are required to ensure that the grades and personal information match what was submitted online.

Portal Access, School Charges & Bed Space Rules

Once screening begins, ABU will activate portal access for all verified students. Through the portal, students can:

  • Generate a REMITA reference for school fee payment
  • Print the official ABU admission letter
  • Reserve bed space in the hostel

The university issued a strict warning:

Buying, selling, or transferring bed spaces is completely prohibited.

Any student caught engaging in such acts will face sanctions.
