ABU Announces February 2026 Add/Drop Window: Dates, Portal Rules, and Key Instructions for Students

Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) has officially reminded students of the February 2026 Add/Drop period, stressing that the timeline is fixed and the portal will only be accessible within the approved dates. Students who need to adjust courses, correct registration errors, or complete outstanding payments are advised to act promptly.

ABU Add/Drop Dates for February 2026

The university confirmed that the Add/Drop exercise will run for two weeks:

  • Start: Monday, 9 February 2026
  • End: Saturday, 21 February 2026

This window is the only approved period for making changes.

What the Add/Drop Portal Opening Means

ABU will activate its course registration portal strictly within the Add/Drop timeframe. Students must log in and complete all required actions while the system is open.

Once the deadline passes, portal access will be shut down and remain closed, leaving no room for late changes.

What Students Should Do During the Add/Drop Period

Within the 9–21 February window, affected students can:

  • Amend or update course registration details
  • Correct wrongly selected or omitted courses
  • Complete required school fee payments

University officials warn that minor registration errors can cause major academic issues if left unresolved. The Add/Drop period is the only university-approved opportunity to fix such problems.

Important Notice for NELFUND Applicants

Students who applied for the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) are advised not to wait for loan disbursement before acting.

ABU has directed NELFUND applicants to:

  • Pay their required fees first to meet university deadlines
  • Expect a refund once the university receives the NELFUND disbursement

This measure is aimed at ensuring students remain academically cleared while funding processes are completed.

After 21 February: What Happens Next

ABU has made it clear that:

  • The Add/Drop portal will close immediately after 21 February 2026
  • The system will remain closed, with no extensions announced

Students who fail to act within the approved window risk carrying unresolved registration issues throughout the session.

Bottom Line

ABU students are strongly advised to mark their calendars, monitor the portal, and complete all Add/Drop activities before the deadline. Waiting until the last minute could result in avoidable academic setbacks.
