The University of Maiduguri (UNIMAID) has officially announced the date for its long-awaited 25th Combined Convocation Ceremony, which will also double as the institution’s Golden Jubilee Celebration.
In a notice released by the Office of the Registrar on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, the university confirmed that the ceremony will take place on Friday, November 28, 2025, at the Convocation Square on campus.
The announcement has sparked excitement across the student community, especially among those who have been waiting for clarity on the convocation schedule. With this update, graduates can now prepare confidently for the milestone event.
Graduates From Three Academic Sessions to Participate
The upcoming ceremony will unite graduates from three academic sessions:
- 2021/2022
- 2022/2023
- 2023/2024
Both undergraduate and postgraduate students will be awarded their degrees on the same day, giving each group the opportunity to celebrate together during the historic Golden Jubilee ceremony.
Academic Gown Collection Begins November 17
UNIMAID has also released details on the collection of academic gowns.
Graduates are required to pay a ₦2,000 gown fee at the Unimaid Microfinance Bank before proceeding to collect their gowns from their respective Colleges and Faculties.
- Collection Start Date: Monday, November 17, 2025
- Important Note: Students must keep their payment receipts, as they will be required when collecting the gowns.
Why This Convocation Is Special
This year’s convocation is particularly significant as it marks 50 years since UNIMAID was founded. The Registrar encouraged graduates, current students, alumni, and staff to join in celebrating five decades of academic excellence, growth, and community impact.
The Golden Jubilee provides a unique moment of reflection for the university — a chance to honor its history, celebrate its achievements, and look ahead to new possibilities.
