UNIPORT Launches 2025/2026 Postgraduate Admission for Trade and Development Programmes
The University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT), through its Institute of International Trade and Development (IITD), has officially announced the commencement of applications for its 2025/2026 academic session graduate programmes.
This announcement opens exciting opportunities for professionals and scholars eager to pursue advanced studies in trade, customs, maritime administration, and development finance.
Available Graduate Programmes
UNIPORT’s IITD is offering the following prestigious programmes:
- Postgraduate Diploma (PGD) in International Trade and Development
- Master of Science (M.Sc) in International Trade and Development
- Master of Science (M.Sc) in Customs Administration and Border Management
- Master of Science (M.Sc) in Ports Management and Maritime Administration
- Master of Science (M.Sc) in Shipping and Maritime Security
- Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) in Trade and Development Finance
These programmes are tailored to equip students with leadership and analytical skills for thriving in both public and private sector trade institutions globally.
Admission Requirements
1. Postgraduate Diploma (PGD)
Applicants must hold at least a Third Class Honours degree in disciplines such as Economics, Political Science, Accounting, Finance, Management, Marketing, History, Geography, or Law from a recognised university.
Candidates with a Higher National Diploma (HND) with a minimum of Upper Credit are also eligible.
2. Master of Science (M.Sc) in International Trade and Development
A Second Class Honours degree in Economics, Political Science, Finance, Accounting, Management, Marketing, History, Geography, or Law is required.
Professionals with at least five years of industry experience in trade-related fields may also apply, provided they hold a minimum CGPA of 2.50 on a 5-point scale.
3. M.Sc in Customs, Ports, and Shipping Management
Applicants must hold a bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Management Sciences, or related Arts disciplines such as History, International Relations, or Law, with a CGPA not below 2.50.
Relevant work experience in Customs, Immigration, Navy, or the Nigerian Ports Authority is an added advantage.
Third Class or HND (Upper Credit) holders must possess a PGD in a related field.
4. Ph.D in Trade and Development Finance
Candidates must hold the Institute’s M.Sc in International Trade and Development with a minimum CGPA of 3.50.
Applicants with an M.Sc in Economics, Marketing, Management, Accounting, International Finance, International Relations, or Mathematics (with the same CGPA) are also eligible.
Programme Duration
- PGD and M.Sc: 12 calendar months
- Ph.D: Minimum of 24 months and maximum of 60 months
