UNIPORT Shifts Resumption Date for 2025/2026 Academic Session

The University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT) has officially postponed the resumption of academic activities for the 2025/2026 academic session by two weeks.

In a statement released after a meeting of the Committee of Provosts and Deans held on Friday, October 31, 2025, the university management announced that the earlier resumption date of Monday, November 3, 2025, has been shifted to Monday, November 17, 2025.

Why UNIPORT Postponed Resumption

According to the committee, the adjustment was made after a thorough review of the ongoing admission process. The university explained that the delay will allow time to conclude the admission exercise and ensure that the new academic session begins in a well-organized and efficient manner.

UNIPORT emphasized that the decision was taken in the best interest of students, parents, and the university community, ensuring that all necessary administrative and academic arrangements are properly in place before lectures commence.

Management’s Assurance to Students and Stakeholders

The management of the University of Port Harcourt expressed regret for any inconvenience caused by the shift but assured stakeholders that the move was essential to maintain academic order and operational excellence.

“This decision was made after careful consideration of the university’s readiness and the need to uphold the institution’s high standards,” the management noted.

Students, parents, and staff have been advised to take note of the new resumption date and make necessary preparations ahead of November 17.

UNIPORT’s Commitment to Academic Stability

UNIPORT reiterated its commitment to providing a stable and predictable academic calendar while fostering an environment that supports learning and growth without unnecessary interruptions.

The university also reaffirmed its dedication to academic excellence, proper planning, and transparent communication — qualities that continue to define it as one of Nigeria’s leading higher institutions.

Summary:
With this two-week postponement, UNIPORT aims to ensure a seamless transition into the new academic year, reaffirming its focus on quality education and effective service delivery.
