The Federal College of Education (Special), Oyo, has officially opened applications for its 2025/2026 Sign Language Training Programme, designed to empower participants with vital communication skills for inclusive learning and professional environments.

The programme, offered through the Directorate of Sign Language Interpreting, is part of FCE (Special), Oyo’s long-standing commitment to advancing special education and inclusive communication in Nigeria.

This development follows the Federal Government’s recent approval of Sign Language as a subject in basic education, marking a significant milestone in promoting accessibility and inclusion across schools and workplaces.


About the Programme

The Certificate Course in Sign Language Communication Skills (Executive Programme) is a three-week intensive training that combines practical experience with professional instruction. It is ideal for educators, civil servants, NGO workers, interpreters, and individuals passionate about bridging the communication gap with the Deaf community.

Classes are handled by certified interpreters and experienced educators who provide hands-on learning to ensure participants gain both expressive and receptive proficiency in Nigerian Sign Language.
