Gombe State Approves Physical Verification for 2025/2026 Scholarship Beneficiaries

In a move to ensure transparency and proper documentation, the Gombe State Government has approved the commencement of the 2025/2026 Scholarship Board Physical Verification exercise.

This crucial step, endorsed by His Excellency, Alhaji Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya (Dan Majen Gombe), aims to confirm the eligibility of all students currently benefiting from the state’s scholarship programme.

According to the Gombe State Scholarship Board, the verification process will begin on Monday, October 20, 2025, and will cover all categories of students under the state sponsorship scheme.

Flexible Schedule to Accommodate Students Amid ASUU Strike

To ensure that no eligible student is left behind—especially with the ongoing ASUU strike—the board has designed a flexible verification plan:

  • Students currently at home should visit the Gombe State Scholarship Board Office directly for their verification.
  • Students in universities will be verified at their respective institutions once academic activities resume and the screening team arrives.
  • Daily verification will take place, including Saturdays, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

All students are required to appear in person with complete documentation before attending the exercise.

Documents Required for the Gombe State Scholarship Verification

Each beneficiary must present original copies of the following documents during the physical verification:

  1. Scholarship application print-out
  2. Admission letter
  3. Latest school fees receipt
  4. Local government indigene certificate
  5. Valid school identity card

Students are strongly advised to arrive early, stay organised, and cooperate with officials throughout the process to ensure smooth verification.

Coordination and Communication

All Gombe State Students’ Association (GOSSA) local chapters have been directed to work closely with the GOSSA National Secretariat for coordination and clarification regarding the verification schedule and procedures.

Why the Physical Verification Matters

The Gombe State Scholarship Board Physical Verification exercise is not just a routine formality—it is a critical step in validating the credentials of beneficiaries and ensuring that only qualified students continue to receive government financial support.

Students who successfully complete this process will maintain their eligibility for the 2025/2026 academic year’s scholarship benefits.

The government and the Scholarship Board urge all concerned students to adhere strictly to the official timetable, bring all required documents, and attend promptly to avoid disqualification.
