OAU Announces Resumption Dates and Academic Calendar for 2024/2025 Session
The Senate of Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, has officially released the long-awaited resumption dates and academic calendar for the 2024/2025 academic session, finally putting an end to weeks of speculation among students.
The decision was made during the Senate meeting held on Thursday, September 18, 2025, and it outlines everything from resumption schedules for new and returning students to matriculation, orientation, and examination dates.
This announcement signals a fresh start for both freshers and returning undergraduates, as the OAU campus gears up once again for another busy academic year.
OAU Resumption Date for Fresh Students
New students will be resuming in phases starting in October 2025. Here’s the breakdown:
- Saturday, October 11, 2025: Faculties of Administration, Arts, Environmental Design and Management, Education, Law, and Social Sciences.
- Sunday, October 12, 2025: Faculties of Agriculture, Basic Medical Sciences, Clinical Sciences, Computing Science and Engineering, Dentistry, Pharmacy, Science, and Technology.
After arrival, freshers will begin:
- Online course registration: October 13, 2025
- Orientation programme: October 13 – 17, 2025
- ICT training: October 20 – 24, 2025
OAU Resumption Date for Returning Students
Returning undergraduates are expected back on campus on Sunday, October 26, 2025.
- Lectures for all students: Begin Monday, October 27, 2025
- Normal course registration: Closes October 31, 2025
- Late registration (with penalty): November 24 – 28, 2025
- Matriculation ceremony: December 3, 2025
OAU Academic Calendar 2024/2025
The Harmattan semester is scheduled to run until March 2026, consisting of:
- 13 weeks of lectures
- 1 week of revision
- Examinations and a short break
Afterward, the Rain Semester is set to commence on Monday, March 30, 2026.
