The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced the resumption of the 2023 Direct Entry (DE) registration across the country. The registration process, which commenced on [insert date], is scheduled to end on April 28, 2023.

In a statement released by the board’s Head of Media and Information, Dr. Fabian Benjamin, JAMB informed prospective candidates who wish to apply for admission into tertiary institutions through the Direct Entry mode that they can now proceed with their registration.

Dr. Benjamin stated, “We are pleased to announce that the 2023 Direct Entry registration has resumed nationwide. Interested candidates can now visit the JAMB website (www.jamb.gov.ng) or any approved CBT centre across the country to complete their registration.”

The Direct Entry mode is an alternative admission route for candidates who already possess certain qualifications, such as a National Diploma (ND), Higher National Diploma (HND), or a degree from a recognized institution. It allows these candidates to gain admission into universities and other tertiary institutions for a program of study that is relevant to their previous qualification.

To be eligible for the Direct Entry registration, candidates must have obtained a minimum of five (5) credit passes in relevant subjects at O’level, including English Language, Mathematics, and three other subjects related to their proposed program of study. They must also possess a valid ND, HND, or degree certificate from a recognized institution.

Candidates are advised to carefully read and adhere to the registration guidelines provided on the JAMB website before proceeding with their registration. They are also urged to ensure that all the information provided during the registration process is accurate and up-to-date.

The board has emphasized that the Direct Entry registration is entirely separate from the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) registration, which closed earlier this year. Candidates who wish to apply for admission through the UTME mode are not eligible for the Direct Entry registration.

JAMB has assured candidates of a smooth and seamless registration process, with adequate measures put in place to ensure the integrity and security of the exercise. The board has also warned candidates against engaging in any form of examination malpractice or fraudulent activity, as such actions will attract severe penalties.

Candidates who encounter any difficulties or have inquiries regarding the Direct Entry registration are advised to contact JAMB through its official communication channels for assistance.

The resumption of the 2023 Direct Entry registration is a welcome development for many prospective candidates who have been eagerly awaiting the opportunity to pursue their academic aspirations through this alternative admission route.
