AFIT Opens 2025/2026 Remedial Programme: A Second Chance for Students

The Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT), Kaduna has officially announced the opening of its 2025/2026 Remedial Programme, offering a golden opportunity to students who missed the cut in their first attempt at gaining admission.

For many students, falling short in JAMB scores or struggling with key O’level subjects like English Language or Mathematics can feel like the end of the road. But AFIT is providing a second chance — a pathway to get back on track toward a degree programme.

What the Remedial Programme Offers

The AFIT remedial session will last one full academic year, divided into two semesters. Just like a standard programme, students will attend lectures, sit for tests, and write examinations.

It is designed to help candidates fill academic gaps and prepare them for direct entry into degree programmes, provided they meet all requirements.

Who Can Apply?

The programme is targeted at candidates who fall into the following categories:

  • Students who did not meet JAMB’s cut-off mark.
  • Applicants who had chosen AFIT or any other university/polytechnic but fell short.
  • Candidates with incomplete O’level results, especially those missing English or Mathematics.

Note: Any O’level deficiency must be cleared before a student can fully transition into a degree programme.

Entry Requirements

For Social & Management Sciences:

  • Five credit passes in WAEC, NECO, or NABTEB (in not more than two sittings).
  • Compulsory English Language and Mathematics.
  • At least two credits from Social Arts subjects and others from Social Sciences.

For Engineering & Sciences:

  • Five credit passes in English, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology.
  • From WAEC, NECO, or NABTEB (not more than two sittings).

These requirements may seem strict, but they set the foundation for success at degree level.

After the Remedial Programme

Completing the remedial programme is just the first step. Candidates must also:

  1. Pass the remedial examinations.
  2. Meet the UTME cut-off mark for their desired course.

Successful students will then be considered for admission into AFIT degree programmes — depending on performance and available spaces.

How to Apply

Interested candidates can apply by following these simple steps:

  1. Visit the AFIT remedial application portal
  2. Select the 2025/2026 session link.
  3. Fill out the online form carefully.
  4. Make a payment of ₦10,000 using an Interswitch-enabled ATM card.
  5. Print out the completed form and keep it along with your O’level result slip for registration.

Deadline: The closing date has not been fixed yet. Candidates are advised to apply early before the portal becomes congested or closes.

Important Warnings

  • AFIT will never request extra money outside the official application fee.
  • There are no shortcuts or backdoor admissions.
  • Any demand for payment beyond the listed process should be treated as fraud.
