WAEC Temporarily Withdraws 2025 WASSCE Results Over Technical Issues: Here’s What You Need to Know

If you’ve been hitting refresh on the WAEC result portal and seeing nothing, don’t panic — it’s not your browser, it’s WAEC.

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has officially withdrawn access to the 2025 WASSCE results from its online portal due to technical complications detected shortly after the release.

According to the examination body, the issue stems from “paper serialisation” — a method introduced this year to prevent examination malpractice by varying the sequence of questions among candidates in core subjects like Mathematics, English, Biology, and Economics.

While the intention behind the method was sound, internal checks revealed glitches that affected how results were processed and displayed.

What Went Wrong?

WAEC confirmed that during a post-release audit, inconsistencies were discovered that could impact the accuracy of some candidates’ results. These bugs, linked to the new paper serialisation system, led WAEC to temporarily shut down the result-checking portal to prevent further confusion or misinformation.

Students who had already checked their results are advised to check again once the portal is back online, as updates or corrections may be applied.

When Will the Results Be Back?

WAEC has assured candidates that the portal will be restored within 24 hours. While timelines like this have occasionally been extended in the past, the council appears confident that the issues will be resolved quickly.

“We deeply regret the inconvenience and appreciate the public’s patience. This is being handled with urgency and transparency,” the statement reads.

WAEC Issues Public Apology

Unlike previous technical mishaps, WAEC has gone beyond a casual apology this time. The body released a formal, “deep and sincere” apology to all affected candidates, parents, and stakeholders.

They also cautioned students to avoid third-party websites or individuals claiming to offer quicker access to the results, stressing that official channels are the only safe option.

What Should You Do Now?

If you’re a candidate waiting to see your grades:

  • Don’t panic — WAEC is aware and working on it.
  • Don’t pay anyone or visit unofficial websites.
  • Check again later — especially if you had already seen your result earlier.
  • Stay updated through WAEC’s official platforms.

Why This Matters

For thousands of students, especially JAMB candidates planning ahead for university admissions, the delay has added unexpected anxiety. But it’s also a reminder that even established institutions face technical hurdles — particularly when rolling out new systems.

So if your result seems off or has suddenly vanished, it’s likely due to a system fix, not a personal issue.
