Edo State University Opens 2025/2026 Admission: What Every JAMB Candidate Needs to Know


Edo State University Begins Admission for 2025/2026 Academic Session

Edo State University, Iyamho (EDSU), has officially opened its admission portal for the 2025/2026 academic year. The university is now accepting applications from three categories of students:

  • UTME candidates
  • Direct Entry (DE) applicants
  • Transfer students from other accredited institutions

Whether you selected EDSU as your first choice or you’re considering a change of institution, here’s what you need to know to apply successfully.


Who Can Apply?

EDSU invites applications from:

  • Candidates who sat for the 2025 UTME
  • Applicants seeking admission through Direct Entry
  • Students transferring from other NUC-accredited universities

Even if you didn’t originally choose Edo State University in your JAMB registration, you can still apply after processing a change of institution through JAMB’s portal.


Admission Guidelines for UTME Candidates

To qualify for admission via UTME, applicants must:

  • Have taken the 2025 UTME
  • Meet the required cut-off mark and departmental entry requirements
  • Possess at least five credit passes, including English Language and Mathematics, in WAEC, NECO, NABTEB, or an equivalent examination
  • Present O’level results from not more than two sittings (Note: Medicine and Surgery requires one sitting only)
  • Candidates with pending O’level results may also apply

If EDSU was not your first choice, you must visit the JAMB portal and apply for a change of institution before completing the university’s application form online.


Admission Guidelines for Direct Entry Applicants

Applicants applying through Direct Entry must have one or more of the following qualifications:

  • NCE (Merit), OND/HND (Credit grade), or a Bachelor’s degree in a related field
  • IJMB, JUPEB, Cambridge A-Levels, or other acceptable equivalents
  • At least two A-Level passes in relevant subjects
  • Minimum O’level entry requirements as listed above

Admission Guidelines for Transfer Students

Students transferring from other universities can apply if they:

  • Are currently enrolled in a university accredited by the National Universities Commission (NUC)
  • Complete the EDSU inter-university transfer form
  • Pass the university’s screening or interview process
  • Provide a valid JAMB admission letter from their current institution
  • Ensure their official transcript is sent directly to the EDSU admissions office
  • Have a CGPA of 1.5 or above

Application Fees

  • UTME and Direct Entry applicants: ₦2,000
  • Transfer applicants: ₦60,000

All payments must be made through the official Edo State University application portal.
