McPherson University Gets Approval to Admit More Nursing Students—Here’s What You Need to Know
McPherson University, Seriki Sotayo, Ogun State, has just received a major boost that could change the future of its Nursing programme—and open new doors for aspiring nurses across Nigeria.
The Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN) has officially increased the school’s Nursing admission quota from 100 to 200 students. This means more students now have the chance to study Nursing at one of Nigeria’s fast-rising private universities.

Nursing Quota Raised to 200
Speaking during a morning devotion with staff, Vice-Chancellor Professor Francis Igbasan revealed that McPherson University’s request to increase its Nursing intake was partially approved. While the university initially requested 250 slots, the NMCN approved 200—double the previous number.
“This puts us ahead of many private universities offering Nursing in Nigeria,” Prof. Igbasan said, emphasizing the university’s strong academic foundation and its recent successful resource assessment.
Admissions for 2025/2026 Open Next Week
The Vice-Chancellor also announced that admissions for the 2025/2026 academic session will officially open next week. McPherson is preparing to admit up to 2,000 students across all departments.
He urged staff to be fully prepared to assist and support the admissions process, noting that the coming weeks will be crucial for reaching the university’s enrolment targets.
University Launches Recruitment Drive
To attract more students, McPherson is launching an internal and external recruitment campaign. Staff members, students, and external partners are being encouraged to refer applicants—and will receive rewards for each successful referral.
This move is part of the university’s broader effort to expand its reach and strengthen its academic community through grassroots engagement.
VC’s Final Message: Keep Growing
In closing, Prof. Igbasan reminded all staff of the importance of continuous personal and professional development. He highlighted how personal growth directly contributes to institutional success.
Thinking of Studying Nursing?
With this newly increased quota, now might be the best time to apply for Nursing at McPherson University. The doors are wide open, and competition is expected to be fierce.
Stay tuned for when admissions officially open next week—and don’t miss your chance.
