MUTA Launches 2025 Education Scholarship Program for Aspiring STEM and Medical Students
The Mutual Union of the Tiv in America (MUTA) Education Committee is pleased to announce the launch of its 2025 Education Scholarship Program, designed to support full-time undergraduate students pursuing studies in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics (STEM), medicine, and allied medical fields.
Scholarship Overview: What You Need to Know
The MUTA Education Scholarship will award up to 16 scholarships for the 2025/2026 academic year, with one recipient chosen from each of the 14 Tiv-speaking Local Government Areas (LGAs) in Benue State, and one each from Taraba and Nasarawa states. The scholarship is intended to help students cover tuition fees, research expenses, and other education-related costs.
The exact scholarship amount will be determined and announced after the selection process.
Who Can Apply? Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for this scholarship, applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Be currently enrolled as an undergraduate student in a STEM, medicine, or allied medical field.
- Maintain a minimum CGPA of 3.5 on a 5.0 scale or 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. Applications from students who do not meet the CGPA requirement will not be considered.
How to Apply: Step-by-Step Process
Interested applicants should follow these steps to apply:
- Complete the online application form.
- Upload the following documents:
- Personal Statement: A two-page, double-spaced essay that outlines your academic journey, achievements, community service, career goals, and financial need.
- Certificate of Origin: A document confirming your state or local government origin.
- CGPA Certification Form: A signed letter from your institution’s Academic Officer or Head of Department to verify your CGPA. (Download the form below the application.)
Evaluation Criteria: How Your Application Will Be Judged
Applications will be reviewed based on:
- CGPA: 60% of the total evaluation
- Personal Statement: 40% of the total evaluation

Important Dates to Remember
- Application Deadline: Submit your application and all required documents by 5 PM (US EST, GMT-5) on Tuesday, 15th April 2025.
- Winner Notification: Successful applicants will be notified by email, and their names will be published on MUTA’s official website and social media channels by June 2025.
- Award Ceremony: The scholarship awards will be presented at a special ceremony planned for July or August 2025.
