Who Can Apply?
If you meet the basic requirements, you’re on your way to joining one of Nigeria’s leading universities. Here’s what you need to know:
General Requirements:
- O-Level Requirements: Five credits in WASC, GCE, NECO, or NABTEB, including English Language, obtained in no more than two sittings.
- Degree Qualifications: Applicants must hold a Bachelor’s degree from UNN or any recognized university.
Specific Programme Requirements:
- Postgraduate Diplomas:
- Eligibility: Bachelor’s degree holders with at least Third Class Honours or HND holders with a minimum GPA of 2.50 on a 5-point scale.
- Some programmes may require additional qualifications or work experience.
- Master’s Degree Programmes:
- Eligibility: Bachelor’s degree holders with a minimum of Second Class Honours and a GPA of at least 3.0 on a 5-point scale, or Postgraduate Diploma holders with a Credit Pass and a minimum GPA of 3.5.
- Some programmes may require relevant work experience.
- Doctorate (Ph.D.) Programmes:
- Eligibility: Master’s degree holders with a GPA of at least 3.5 on a 5-point scale.
- Preference is given to applicants with research-focused Master’s degrees.
Programme Duration:
- Postgraduate Diploma (Full-Time): Minimum of 2 semesters.
- Master’s Degree (Full-Time): Minimum of 3 semesters.
- Doctorate Degree (Full-Time): Minimum of 6 semesters.
- Part-time study durations: Longer for all programmes.
How to Apply:
The application process is straightforward:
- Visit the UNN Portal: Start your application online.
- Generate an Invoice: Pay the application fee of ₦26,700 via Remita (online or at the bank).
- Fill Out the Form: Complete your application and upload your required documents in JPEG format.
- Request Transcripts: Ask your previous institutions to send your official transcripts directly to the Secretary, College of Postgraduate Studies, UNN by 1st August 2025.
Additional Documents:
- NYSC Discharge, Exemption, or Exclusion Certificate is required.
- Important Note: Certificates labeled “To Whom It May Concern” will not be accepted.
