Breaking News: Sa’adu Zungur University ASUU Suspends Strike After Reaching Agreement with State Government
In a significant development, the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) at Sa’adu Zungur University has called off its indefinite strike, which began on November 29, 2024. The strike was launched to demand the implementation of pension schemes, death benefits for staff, as well as the payment of earned academic and excess workload allowances.
Strike Ends After Productive Meeting
The strike was officially suspended after a meeting held on December 14, 2024, at the university’s Yuli Campus. The decision followed a series of discussions between the union and the Bauchi State government, leading to a positive resolution.
Comrade Auwal Nuhu, the Chairperson of ASUU at Sa’adu Zungur University, confirmed the suspension in a statement released on Monday. He expressed gratitude for the government’s commitment to resolving the issues at hand.
