NUC Approves 14 New Programs at Ignatius Ajuru University for 2024/2025 Session

New academic opportunities await students at Ignatius Ajuru University of Education (IAUE), Port Harcourt, as the National Universities Commission (NUC) grants approval for fourteen new programs to be launched in the upcoming academic session.

In a significant move aimed at expanding academic and professional opportunities, the National Universities Commission (NUC) has approved the establishment of fourteen new academic programs at Ignatius Ajuru University of Education (IAUE), located in Rumuolumeni, Port Harcourt. These programs will be offered on a full-time basis starting from the 2024/2025 academic session.

The approval was officially communicated in a letter dated December 11, 2024, from Abubakar M. Girel, the Acting Director of Academic Planning at the NUC, to the Acting Vice Chancellor of IAUE, Professor Okechuku Onuchuku. The letter was signed on behalf of the Acting Executive Secretary of NUC, Mallam Chris J. Maiyaki.

This important decision comes after a thorough assessment by NUC experts who evaluated the university’s resources and readiness to introduce these new courses.

New Postgraduate Programs Approved:

  • M.A. and Ph.D. in Music
  • M.A. and Ph.D. in Religion and Cultural Studies
  • M.Sc. and Ph.D. in Computer Science
