Federal Government Removes Pro-Chancellor of Federal University of Health Sciences, Otukpo Over Misconduct

In a decisive move, the Federal Government has dismissed Engr. Ohieku Muhammed Salami as the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council of the Federal University of Health Sciences, Otukpo (FUHSO) in Benue State. This action follows allegations of unprofessional conduct and violations of university governance procedures.

Why Was Engr. Salami Removed?

Engr. Salami’s removal came after accusations of misconduct, including the controversial suspension of the university’s Vice-Chancellor. This suspension was carried out without following the proper legal and administrative processes. Despite multiple interventions from the Federal Ministry of Education, Salami refused to reverse the suspension, which was deemed unlawful.

In addition to the suspension issue, Salami was also accused of using threatening language and abusive behavior towards senior officials of the Ministry, including the Permanent Secretary.
