Nnamdi Azikiwe University Cuts ICT Fees to Support Students
Awka, Nigeria — In a significant move to ease the financial burden on students, Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK) has announced a substantial reduction in Information and Communication Technology (ICT) fees and charges. This initiative, approved by Acting Vice-Chancellor Professor Carol Arinze Umobi, aims to enhance the affordability of education at the institution.
What’s New? A Summary of Fee Reductions
UNIZIK has implemented a total cut of ₦9,500 in ICT-related fees. Here are the key changes:
- Single ICT Charge: Students will now pay a one-time fee for all ICT services, simplifying the payment process.
- Abolished Fees:
- Application Fee: Removed, saving students ₦2,000.
- Duplicate Orientation Fee: Eliminated, resulting in savings of ₦3,500.
- Reduced Fees:
- General Studies Publications Fee: Decreased from ₦12,000 to ₦8,000.
- Transcript Fees: A significant 50% reduction on all transcript fees has been approved.
Efficient Management of Transcript Processing
The recommendations from the ICT Committee, which advocated for better management of transcript processing within the university, have been fully accepted by Professor Umobi. This change aims to improve efficiency and service delivery for students.
