ATBU Extends First Semester Registration to March 4, 2026 — Students Given Final Two-Week Window

In a move aimed at accommodating students who are yet to complete their formal registration, Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU) has officially approved a two-week extension for First Semester registration.

The decision comes after the initial registration timeline expired, giving affected students one final opportunity to regularize their academic status.

But there’s a catch: this is the final extension.

New ATBU First Semester Registration Dates

According to the university management, the newly approved registration window runs as follows:

  • Commencement Date: Wednesday, 18 February 2026
  • Closing Date: Wednesday, 4 March 2026
  • Duration: Two (2) weeks

These dates now define the active and final registration period for the First Semester academic session.

Students with incomplete payment, course registration, documentation, or portal clearance are strongly advised to act immediately.

Who Benefits From the Extension?

The university clarified that the extension specifically targets:

  • Students who have not completed formal registration
  • Those with pending portal processes
  • Students yet to finalize required academic or administrative steps

ATBU management emphasized that the move is intended to support students who may have experienced delays during the earlier registration window.

ATBU’s Firm Warning: No Further Extension

In clear terms, the university stated that no further extension will be granted beyond Wednesday, 4 March 2026.

This means:

  • Any student who fails to complete registration within this period risks academic consequences.
  • The university will not reopen the portal after the deadline.

Students are therefore urged to treat the new timeline as a strict and non-negotiable deadline.

What Students Should Do Now

To avoid last-minute issues, students are advised to:

  1. Log into the official ATBU portal immediately.
  2. Confirm fee payment status.
  3. Complete course registration.
  4. Ensure all documentation and departmental clearance steps are finalized.

Waiting until the final days could lead to portal congestion or processing delays.

Why This Update Matters

Registration is a fundamental academic requirement in Nigerian universities. Without completing it, students may face:

  • Ineligibility to sit for examinations
  • Suspension of academic records
  • Possible deferment complications

This extension gives affected students a final opportunity to secure their academic standing for the semester.

Final Reminder

The countdown has begun. From 18 February to 4 March 2026, ATBU students have one last chance to complete First Semester registration.

After March 4, the door closes.

Students are strongly advised to act now.
