University of Delta Sets Date for Maiden Convocation Ceremony, Issues Strict Guidelines
Students, faculty and dignitaries are preparing for a historic milestone as the University of Delta announces full details of its first-ever convocation ceremony.
The management of the University of Delta (UNIDEL), Agbor, has officially fixed Saturday, February 21, 2026, for the institution’s maiden convocation ceremony, marking a landmark event in the university’s academic history.
In a circular signed by the Registrar, Richmond Omagbemi (Esq), the university outlined key schedules and directives expected to guide participants throughout the ceremony. Members of the university community have been urged to strictly comply with the guidelines to ensure a smooth and dignified event.
Academic Procession to Begin at 9:00 a.m.
According to the circular, the grand finale of the convocation will begin with an academic procession scheduled for 9:00 a.m.
All members of the University Council, Senate and Congregation are mandated to participate in the procession. Participants are required to appear in approved academic gowns, reinforcing the formal tradition associated with convocation ceremonies.
Collection of Academic Gowns for Graduating Students
The university directed faculty officers to collect academic gowns for graduating students from the Central Stores on Wednesday, February 19, 2026, by 12 noon.
Faculty officers are also tasked with ensuring that graduating students maintain proper conduct throughout the ceremony, covering all activities scheduled for the convocation day.
Warning Against Misconduct
The management issued a firm warning against any behavior capable of tarnishing the university’s reputation. It stressed that any act of misconduct will attract stiff penalties, in accordance with the institution’s rules and regulations.
The directive underscores the university’s commitment to preserving discipline and decorum during what is expected to be a celebratory and historic occasion.
