AKUM Orders Matriculants to Clear Registration Fees Before March 2 Exams

Newly admitted students at Abdulkadir Kure University (AKUM) must settle all outstanding registration fees — excluding tuition — or risk being barred from their second semester examinations scheduled for March 2, 2026.

In an official notice issued after the university’s recent matriculation ceremony, management clarified that although tuition has been waived under the Niger State government’s tuition-free policy, other registration charges remain compulsory.

What Happened?

According to AKUM management, some newly matriculated students began withholding payments following the announcement of the tuition-free initiative by Mohammed Umaru Bago, Governor of Niger State.

The university emphasized that the waiver applies strictly to tuition. All other registration fees must still be paid in full for students to remain eligible for academic activities.

Key Directive to Students

AKUM issued a firm directive:

Any student who fails to clear outstanding registration fees (excluding tuition) will not be permitted to sit for the Second Semester Examination.

The university described the instruction as straightforward — students must complete payment of all non-tuition registration fees without delay.

Tuition Fee Breakdown by Faculty

Although tuition is currently excluded from payment, AKUM released a faculty-based tuition structure for transparency. Fees differ for Niger State indigenes (Nigerlites) and non-indigenes:
