FUTO Extends Online Course Registration Deadline to February 14, 2026

The management of the Federal University of Technology, Owerri (FUTO) has approved a final extension of the online course registration deadline for all undergraduate students, giving them more time to complete their academic formalities.

The decision was communicated through an internal memorandum from the Office of the Registrar, dated February 2, 2026. According to the memo, the extension is aimed at ensuring that no student is shut out of the academic process due to delays in registration.

New Deadline for FUTO Course Registration

FUTO confirmed that the online course registration portal will remain open until:

Saturday, February 14, 2026

All undergraduate students are expected to complete and submit their course registration on or before this date. Once the deadline passes, the portal will be closed.

Late Registration Fee: What You Should Know

The university has also announced a penalty for students who fail to meet the new deadline.

  • Late registration fee: ₦10,000
  • Penalty begins: Monday, February 16, 2026

Students who do not complete their registration before the portal closes should be prepared to pay the ₦10,000 late registration charge once the penalty period begins.

Registrar’s Memo and Circulation Directive

The memo from the Registrar’s Office describes this extension as a final notice. To ensure wide awareness:

  • Deans of Schools and
  • Heads of Departments (HODs)

have been directed to circulate the information to students through departmental channels and social media platforms so that every undergraduate student is properly informed.

What FUTO Students Should Do Now

FUTO management has strongly advised students to:

  • Use the extra time to complete their online course registration
  • Avoid unnecessary delays
  • Prevent paying the ₦10,000 late registration fee

As the university notes, no student wants an avoidable extra bill.

Why This Matters

Course registration is a compulsory academic requirement. Failure to complete it on time can affect students’ eligibility for lectures, examinations, and other academic activities.
