MUTA Education Scholarship 2026 Opens for Applications

The MUTA Education Committee has officially opened applications for the 2026 MUTA Education Scholarship Program, offering merit-based awards to full-time undergraduate students in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics), medicine, and allied medical fields.

This year, up to 16 scholarships will be awarded for the 2026/2027 academic session. Eligible students from the 14 Tiv-speaking Local Government Areas (LGAs) in Benue State, as well as Taraba and Nasarawa States, are invited to apply.


Scholarship Allocation

  • 14 recipients from the 14 Tiv-speaking LGAs in Benue State
  • 1 recipient from Taraba State
  • 1 recipient from Nasarawa State

The scholarship fund can be applied toward tuition, academic fees, research expenses, or other costs directly related to undergraduate study. The exact award amount will be announced after selection.

Who Can Apply

Applicants must meet the following criteria:

  1. Programme and Enrollment:
    • Must be a full-time undergraduate student in a STEM, medicine, or allied medical programme.
  2. Academic Requirement:
    • Minimum CGPA: 3.5/5.0 (Second Class Upper) or 3.0/4.0.
    • Applicants not meeting this requirement will not be considered, regardless of rank in their LGA.

How to Apply

Applications are fully online. Applicants must:

  1. Complete the MUTA Scholarship 2026 online application form.
  2. Upload the following supporting documents:
    • Personal Statement: Two-page essay covering academic history, community service, career goals, and financial need.
    • Certificate of Origin: Verified by the applicant’s State or Local Government.
    • CGPA Verification Form: Completed and signed by the Academic Officer or Head of Department. MUTA Scholarship 2026 online application form

Applications without any required documents will not be considered.

Selection Criteria

Applications will be assessed based on:

  • Academic Standing (CGPA): 50%
  • Strength of Personal Statement: 40%
  • Community Service: 10%

Note: Falsified information will result in immediate disqualification.

Important Dates

  • Application Deadline: Wednesday, 15 April 2026, 11:59 PM (US EST, GMT-5)
  • Notification of Winners: Via email; names also published on the official website and MUTA Education social media in the second or third week of June 2026.
  • Award Ceremony: Planned for July or August 2026; exact date will be confirmed. Recipients must consent to image use for promotional purposes.
